One of the first owners of the Ford Model T in the state of Minnesota was a wheat farmer named Seth Lesser. The Ford Motor Company began manufacturing the Ford Model T in 1908. In 1909, Seth Lesser bought his Model T. It was a popular vehicle because it was the first affordable vehicle and was hailed as having put American on wheels. It was also the first ever automobile that was manufactured through the assembly line mass production method.
Seth Lesser brought up the idea of buying his Model T to his father after hearing of its marvelous features on the radio. His father, the former owner of the farm he bequeathed to his son, was against it. But contrary to his father’s wishes, Mr Lesser went ahead and bought his Model T. At first, he wasn’t a believer for it took him two months to learn how to drive.
Indeed, what Seth Lesser heard on the radio was true. It considerably cut down the travel time between states when marketing his wheat. It helped in hauling heavy things on the farm. It also proved to be a fast means of transportation on family trips. His wife, Clara, became a convert to the Model T after giving birth to Lizzie inside their Model T, also called a Lizzie.
